This afternoon we received a phone call from Peninsula High School that a student at West Sound Technical Skills Center may have a weapon in their possession. Law enforcement was immediately notified. They responded and took charge of the situation. The student was removed from class and searched. No weapon was found.

No one at WST reported seeing a weapon and no threats of violence were made by the student.

However, in an abundance of caution, the school was put into lockdown for a short time while police completed their investigation.

We understand that potential threats - even if they are not credible - can cause a great deal of stress and anxiety for students, families, and staff. Please know that student and staff safety is our number one priority.
